Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie return as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre, this time heading to a remote Arctic research station after a member of a covert British special forces mission is shot dead. The third series swaps the claustrophobia of the submarine for frozen, open landscapes, and our kit went all the way to Svalbard, high in the Arctic Circle, for the location shoot, as well as working on the Scottish side of the production.
The camera: ARRI Alexa 35
From Glasgow to the Arctic: our Alexa 35 travelled to Svalbard, where snow, ice and polar light are about the toughest test a camera can face. Bright white landscapes one minute, dim research-station interiors the next, and the Alexa 35’s huge dynamic range holds detail in both, without blown-out skies or crushed shadows.

The lenses: ARRI Signature Primes
Signatures are known for their smooth, gentle highlight roll-off and flattering rendering of faces. That’s ideal when you’re shooting people against a wall of white, and when the drama lives in the performances.
