Netflix · Candle True Stories · 2026
When pathologist Caroline Muirhead’s fiancé confessed to the hit-and-run that killed cyclist Tony Parsons in the Scottish Highlands, she faced an impossible choice, and secretly helped Police Scotland bring him to justice. Candle True Stories’ three-part Netflix documentary tells her story in her own words. It premiered in April 2026, and the camera package came from Progressive.
The camera: ARRI Alexa 35
Today’s true-crime documentaries are made to look as good as drama, with cinematic interviews, atmospheric landscapes and careful reconstructions. The Alexa 35 brings that high-end look to factual, with the dynamic range for wide Highland skies and the natural, flattering colour that makes long interviews a pleasure to watch.

The zoom: Angénieux Optimo 24–290mm
One lens, from wide establishing shots to tight close-ups. For documentary work, the 24–290 is invaluable: frame a sweeping glen, then find a detail far down the valley, or reframe an interview without moving the camera, all with Optimo quality throughout.
