For its second series, Vigil came up from the depths and took to the skies. When a drone demonstration at an RAF weapons range goes catastrophically wrong, DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DS Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) uncover a conspiracy stretching from Scotland to a British air base in the Gulf.
Filmed around Glasgow and Lanarkshire in spring 2023, with some of our kit travelling out to Morocco to stand in for the Middle East, it was the second of three Vigil series shot with camera kit from Progressive.

Series 2 trades the submarine’s tight, artificially lit corridors for wide skies, hard desert sunlight and stark military hangars, a huge range of conditions for one camera. The Alexa 35’s exceptional dynamic range keeps the detail in blazing highlights and deep shadow alike, while its natural colour holds up from Scottish greys to Gulf sun. Director of Photography Matt Wicks paired it with his own lens package.
