Feature film · Pilea Pictures · 2026
Two siblings have lived alone on a remote Scottish island for thirty years, until Domhnall Gleeson’s nervous land recovery coordinator turns up to move them to the mainland. Louis Paxton’s debut feature, with Gayle Rankin, Grant O’Rourke, Emun Elliott, Michelle Gomez and John Hannah, was shot in Caithness and the Highlands in summer 2025. It won the NEXT Innovator Award at Sundance, was chosen to open the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and arrived in UK cinemas in September 2026.
The camera and lenses
The Incomer was shot on the Sony Venice 2, with the Rialto extension system on a backpack rig for getting the camera into tight spots, and a Venice body as a spare. The lenses were a mix of Zeiss Super Speeds and standard speeds, IronGlass Amber primes for a touch of vintage character, and a 9.8mm Kinoptic with an ultra-wide attachment for the widest shots.
The power: NXTGENbps Goat and Billy Goat
Out on location in the Scottish Highlands, a Goat green generator and a Billy Goat expansion gave the production 14.4kWh of battery power. That’s mains power with zero emissions, no fumes and next to no noise.
