Val McDermid’s cold-case detective arrived on ITV in 2022, with Lauren Lyle as DS Karen Pirie, reopening a 25-year-old murder in St Andrews after a true-crime podcast stirs it back up. The series pairs a sharp, modern investigation with the haunting pull of the past, and the camera package was supplied by Progressive.
The series was shot on our ARRI Signature Primes with the ARRI Alexa Mini LF. Signatures are known for their clean, gentle rendering of skin and smooth fall-off, ideal for a drama that lives so much on faces and quiet moments, and they’re a natural match for the Mini LF’s large-format sensor.
